Men Having Babies created the Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP) as part of their mission to promote the affordability of surrogacy and other parenting related services for gay men through financial assistance and the encouragement of transparency and customer feedback.
GPAP provides grants and access to discounts for gay men who require financial assistance in their quest for parenthood. The program consists of two tiers of assistance – the first provides modest help to boost the efforts of all qualified applicants, and the other grants more substantial assistance to a select group.
Since the beginning of 2014 several dozen individuals and couples received access to generous discounts from about thirty service providers through “Stage I” of the program. Additionally, several couples and singles were selected to receive cash grants and free services through “Stage II” of the program. Funds for this program come from event sponsorship fees and direct donations. Applications for Stage I are accepted on a rolling basis, while Stage II applicants are reviewed annually.
